Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf’s government has snatched the Senate chairmanship despite the opposition having majority in the House and Sadiq Sanjarani has again elected the Chairman Senate with 48 votes.
While former PDM prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has lost and he was able to get 42 votes.
Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has rejected 7 votes because instead of installing in the steam box, he was named after him.
There was one vote in which the senator steamed in front of the names of the two candidates, which was rejected.
After the house was completed for the election of the Senate, the Chairman and deputy chairman, Mushtaq Ahmed, a member of the Jamaat-e-Islami, was waited for another 20 minutes after the house was completed but did not come.
Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Mushtaq Ahmed has announced no vote. Today, 98 senators participated in the vote to choose the Chairman Senate.
It should be noted that the government has 47 members of opposition parties with 51 but voting has been completed through a secret ballot.
Opposition Coalition for The Deputy Chairman Senate Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) candidate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Mirza Mohammad Afridi contested.
Government candidate Mirza Muhammad Afridi got 54 votes to defeat opposition candidate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, opposition candidate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri got 44 votes.
A total of 98 votes were cast for the Deputy Chairman Senate. Mirza Muhammad Afridi is from FATA, who was elected as an independent senator in 2018.
He was nominated as deputy chairman senate by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
